Cuelin is a recipe app with an edge: beyond searching and saving recipes, it lets users create their own — and it can detect raw ingredients through the camera, then suggest what dishes can be made from them. It's a genuinely useful product. The design just wasn't keeping up with what it could do.
The brief wasn't just about making things look better. The product had real features — ingredient detection, recipe creation, search — but the UI wasn't communicating that clearly. The copywriting added to the confusion: labels that were vague, flows that assumed too much from the user.

Before touching a single screen, I built a design system first. Not as a formality, but because jumping straight into UI without a foundation would have meant inconsistency at every turn — and with a product this feature-rich, inconsistency is the fastest way to make something feel unreliable.
